Competition overview
The VEX V5 Robotics competition High Stakes takes place on a 12 'x 12' square field, configured as shown above. Two leagues - one "red" and one "blue" - each consisting of two teams, compete in a race consisting of a fifteen (15) second autonomy period followed by a one minute forty-five second (1:45) driver control period.
The object of the game is to score higher points than the opponent league by scoring rings on piles, placing moving targets, and climbing at the end of the game.
Venue Details:
There are forty-eight (48) rings in the V5RC High Stakes field.
There are nine (9) stakes on the field. Five (5) are located on the moving target, four (4) are located on the wall, one for each alliance, two (2) are neutral, and one (1) is located at the top of the ladder.
Each score on the ring on the stake is worth one (1) point. The top ring on each stake is worth three (3) points.
A moving target can be placed at a positive or negative Angle to change the value of the ring on that target.
The V5RC High Stakes field also includes a ladder located in the middle of the field. Robots climb ladders at the end of the race to earn extra points. The higher the robot climbs, the more points it earns!
The league that scores more points during the autonomous period will receive six (6) bonus points to add to the final score at the end of the game. Each alliance also has the opportunity to earn an autonomous victory point by completing assigned missions. This extra victory point can be won by both alliances, regardless of who wins the autonomous bonus.
